The Kasese District Chairperson Mr. Geoffrey Sibendire Bigogo has called for joint efforts by the people of Kasese district to empress plans aimed at eradicating cancer which he said has of recent turned canning against the local population.
Speaking to this radio shortly after addressing participants at a yesterday’s cancer run that was organized by Centenary Bank and Rotary club at Rwenzori square in Kasese town on Sunday, Mr. Bigogo who asked the locals to go by the technical guidelines against the disease, called on the locals to remain united against cancer by contributing as required.
The Bank manger for Centenary Kasese Branch, Mr. Benon Muhabuzi disclosed the contributions by his bank and the parliament of Uganda before reminding his guests that getting more than three billion shillings needed for the Cancer Machine would save the cancer patients in Uganda from the exorbitant payments elsewhere.
The Kasese Division Police Commander, Superintendent of police Samuel Odong said his participation at the cancer run was not only to for physical fitness but also to contribute to the needs of the local population.
Miss tourism Rwenzori, Queen Doreen and former Miss Tourism Queen Daphine Betty Kajumba called for more investment in health related issues for health, vibrant and hardworking community.
The cancer run attracted various stakeholders including the Retired Bishop of South Rwenzori diocese, Rt. Rev Zebedee Masereka. END.
