Bishop of the Catholic diocese of Kasese Builds Marian House in Gratitude to God for 40 Years of Priesthood
Kasese, Uganda In a profound act of thanksgiving and devotion, the Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Kasese, Rt. Rev. Francis Aquirinus Kibira, has commissioned the construction of a Marian House in honor of the Blessed Virgin Mary, marking his 40th anniversary as a Catholic priest.
The newly built Marian House, a spiritual and pastoral landmark, is situated next to the new cathedral under construction and Mount St. Mary’s Hospital, forming a growing hub of Catholic faith and community services within the diocese.
The Marian House is set to be officially launched on Saturday 12th July 2025 starting at 8.30am with a Marian Procession around Kasese Town and then holy mass at the site starting at 10.00am
“Each year of my priesthood has been a journey of faith, service, and God’s unwavering presence,” Bishop Kibira said. “As I mark 40 years since my ordination, I felt deeply moved to dedicate something lasting and sacred to the Mother of Our Lord a space where the faithful can encounter her love and intercession.”
The Marian House is designed to serve multiple purposes: as a place for personal prayer and devotion, a center for Marian spirituality. Its proximity to both the diocesan cathedral and Mount St. Mary’s Hospital highlights its envisioned role as a sanctuary of peace and reflection for both patients and pilgrims.
Bishop Kibira also reflects on his vocation journey, acknowledging the challenges and triumphs that have shaped his ministry.
“From the humble beginnings in Kitagwenda, to the calling of episcopal leadership, I have seen the hand of God guiding me. This Marian House is not only a symbol of my gratitude but also a legacy of faith for future generations,” he noted.
One of the senior priests has praised the bishop’s initiative, stating, “This Marian House is more than a building,it is a beacon of hope and prayer for the diocese. It reflects Bishop Kibira’s deep spiritual connection to Mary and his tireless dedication to the people of God.”
As the Diocese of Kasese continues to grow in numbers and influence, the addition of the Marian House is seen as a pivotal step in strengthening its spiritual and pastoral outreach. It joins a series of developments under Bishop Kibira’s leadership aimed at enhancing faith formation, healthcare, and community support.
The Diocese of Kasese, established in 1989, now celebrates this new chapter with renewed faith, guided by a shepherd who continues to lead by example in service, humility, and unwavering devotion.
