Thousands of people most of them believers in Christ graced the celebration of the first Holy Mass at the new Kasese Cathedral Church under construction with a call on believers to build their faith on a strong foundation of Christ.
Presiding over a homily, the Bishop for Diocese of Kasese, Rt. Rev. Francis Aquirinus Kibira Kambale said that building a new bigger cathedral after thirty years in Kasese should remind them of their obligation and strength in Christ whose foundation should increase their love for God and one another so as to leave God`s people comfortable in the Creator`s new temple.
The chief Guest and Minister of Agriculture, Animal industry and fisheries, Hon. Vincent Bamulangaki Ssempijja who described building God`s temple as mandatory to all, threatened to deal with individuals whom he said were mismanaging Mubuku irrigation scheme that was established for food security by supporting fast growing crops but not planting trees whose owner must cut with urgency.
Hon. Sempajja`s threats followed Hon. Robert Centenary`s call for intervention over what he called mismanagement of a national asset that was established to produce for Ugandans.
Hon. Sempajja had earlier pledged to visit the Bishop next Month for purposes of ponders on measures aimed at increasing the livelihoods of believers and Church servants in Kasese through Agricultural promotion approaches.
The Kasese Municipal Mayor, His worship Godfrey Kabyanga who called for future land scalping and beautification plans around the Cathedral hailed the Bishop for the new cathedral he said will boost tourism in Kasese.
In his address, the chairperson for the construction committee, Mr. Joseph Nzukwa called for more support to cover the remaining three billion shillings required for the completion of an estimated four thousand seater Kasese Cathedral whose budget covers more than five billion shillings.
